Hopson named athletic director at Bowsher
Dennis Hopson is returning to his alma mater. The City League Hall of Famer has been named the athletic director at Bowsher High School, Toledo Public Schools announced Monday. The 1983 Bowsher graduate is Ohio State’s all-time leading scorer. He was named the Big Ten player of the year in 1986-87 and went on to play 13 seasons of professional basketball, including five in the NBA. In 1991, Hopson won a championship with the Chicago Bulls. Most recently, Hopson was the head men’s basketball coach at Lourdes for five seasons, resigning that post last week.
Toledo women's golf coach Jenny Coluccio resigns to pursue new opportunity
University of Toledo women’s golf coach Jenny Coluccio announced on Monday that she is resigning from her post, a position she has held the past six years. According to the school’s news release, Coluccio is leaving the Rockets’ program to pursue a new professional opportunity. "Leaving this program, Toledo, and coaching, is very bittersweet," Coluccio said. “The experiences and relationships I've built here and in coaching will always hold a special place in my heart, with the players being at the top of that list. Every one of them have a special place in my heart and have shaped me to who I am today. I also want to give a special thanks to [athletic director] Bryan Blair and [women's golf administrator] Nicole Alderson, whose exceptional leadership and guidance are taking Toledo to new heights. I am grateful for everything I've learned in this profession and to all the people I have had the privilege to know along the way. Here's to new beginnings and lasting memories.” Coluccio guided the Rockets to four tournament titles as well as runner-up finishes at the MAC Championships in 2019 and 2024 during her six years at the school.
One of four convicted after Toledo Police say group became disruptive, violent toward officers
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - One of several people charged after Toledo Police say a large gathering of people became violent and disruptive toward officers was convicted on Tuesday. Court records show Kason Douglas entered a no contest plea to an amended charge of Disorderly Conduct, amended from Riot Intimidate Public Official/Employee.

BOWLING GREEN — It’s been a a year of pancakes, sausage, and strawberry shortcake for Jason Miller. As Ohio Kiwanis district governor for the last year, with his term expiring Oct. 1, Mr. Miller has made 90 official visits to clubs around the state. Kiwanis are member-driven, community-focused service clubs. “I’ve put over 18,000 miles on the car since Oct. 1, which is certainly a lot more than the average governor does, but it was important to me to get out and meet as many people as a I could,” said Mr. Miller, who is 45. “I’ve attended anything you can imagine, from bike rodeos, to strawberry socials, to pancake days, to cake walks.” His most memorable trip was two hours south, where he was asked to throw out the first pitch for a Dayton Dragons game. He ended up passing the opportunity to a local child, Logan.
Titans host Liberty-Benton in opener Friday
OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf head football coach Ken Schriner has liked what he has seen from his 2024 football so far this pre-season. Now with pre-season camp and two scrimmages behind them the Titans are looking forward to kicking off the 2024 season Friday night. The Titans have a new opponent for the season opener this year as they will welcome Liberty-Benton into Titan Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.
Road closures for Tour de Donut and Donut Jam

LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. – The brother of Dee Warner broke down the steps he believes her husband followed to keep his sister’s body hidden for years. Greg Hardy spoke to Local 4 over the weekend after police discovered human remains on the property that belongs to his late sister’s husband.
