Centralia man charged with illegally discharging a firearm
CENTRALIA, IL — A Centralia man was charged Tuesday in Marion County Court in regard to a shots fired incident the morning before on Monday. The Centralia Police Department says 42-year-old Dennis Parks is charged, among other things, with firing a weapon outside the home where his children were staying. CPD arrived on scene at 10am Monday because of a call from a female resident at a home in the 600 block of Gragg Street that someone was banging on her door, and she heard at least one gunshot. Police would then deploy a K9 Unit who would find two loaded guns in the area where Parks was eventually found near Rasback and Sycamore streets.
Grief support group to meet weekly at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital
SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital will offer a grief support group every Wednesday. The grief support group is for anyone in the community who has experienced loss, regardless of whether the loved one was a patient at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm beginning August 7 through October 9, 2024.
