    ‘Gilded Age’ Season 3 Adds Eight to Cast, Including Leslie Uggams, Merritt Wever, Andrea Martin

    “The Gilded Age” Season 3 has added eight actors to it cast, Variety has learned.

    Bill Camp (“The Night Of,” “Presumed Innocent”), Merritt Wever (“Unbelievable,” “Godless,” “Nurse Jackie”), Leslie Uggams (“Roots,” “Deadpool”), LisaGay Hamilton (“The Dropout,” HBO’s “Winning Time”), Paul Alexander Nolan, Hattie Morahan (“Operation Mincemeat,” “Fool Me Once”), Andrea Martin (“Evil,” “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”), and Jessica Frances Dukes (“Ozark,” “Earth Abides”) have all been cast in the third season of the HBO period drama.

    The new additions will appear alongside the returning cast that includes Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Denée Benton, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, and Blake Ritson.

    Camp is repped by Innovative Artists and Franklin, Weinrib, Rudell and Vassallo. Wever is repped by Innovative Artists and Viking Entertainment. Uggams is repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency. Hamilton is repped by Greenlight Management and Innovative Artists. Nolan is repped by Schachter Entertainment and Gersh. Morahan is repped by Authentic Talent and Literary Management and United Agents. Martin is repped by Innovative Artists. Dukes is repped by Schachter Entertainment, Innovative Artists, and Schreck Rose.

    “The Gilded Age” takes place in 1880s New York City and follows the lives of both old and new money members of high society (and their servants) as they navigate the economic and social changes of their time. Railroads, fancy lady glove parties, opera wars, this show has it all!

    Julian Fellowes created the series and serves as writer and executive producer. Sonja Warfield is also a writer and executive producer, with Gareth Neame, Bob Greenblatt, and David Crockett also executive producing. Michael Engler and Salli Richardson-Whitfield are directors and executive producers, while Erica Dunbar is the historical consultant and co-executive producer. The series is co-produced by HBO and Universal Television. Bernie Telsey and Adam Caldwell from the Telsey Office serve as casting directors.

    Character Descriptions

    BILL CAMP as JP Morgan, the world-famous investment banker who finds himself at odds with George Russell (Spector) over the future of the railroad industry.

    MERRITT WEVER as Monica O’Brien, Bertha Russell’s (Coon) estranged sister who appears at a crucial time for the family.

    LESLIE UGGAMS as Mrs. Ernestine Brown, Elizabeth Kirkland’s friend and a member of the Black elite community in Newport.

    LISAGAY HAMILTON as Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, the famed Black suffragist who inspires Peggy (Denée Benton) to become involved in her cause, in spite of the dissenting opinions of those around her.

    PAUL ALEXANDER NOLAN as Alfred Merrick, a dashing, wealthy New York businessman, who has all the hallmarks of the old money set – elegance, refinement and sophistication. The Russells invite him to dine at their home in the hopes of charming him into a business deal.

    HATTIE MORAHAN as Lady Sarah Vere – Sister to the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb), Lady Sarah makes it clear that the Russells are not to her taste.

    ANDREA MARTIN as Madame Dashkova, a medium who claims to be able to commune with the dead.

    JESSICA FRANCES DUKES as Athena Trumbo, Dorothy (Audra McDonald)’s beloved first cousin and a part of an elite enclave of Black residents of Newport, Rhode Island, who is pleased to host Peggy (Benton) and is supportive of her writing career.
