Irish Detective Series ‘Borderline’ From Lionsgate Heads to Roku Channel in the U.S. (EXCLUSIVE)

“Borderline,” a detective series from Lionsgate Television, is heading to the Roku Channel for its U.S. premiere on Sept. 1.

Per the official logline, in the series, “straitlaced detective inspector Philip Boyd of North Ireland finds himself working alongside his foul-mouthed Republic of Ireland counterpart, detective inspector Aoife Regan, and although neither are happy about the partnership, the two must put their personal and professional differences aside to solve the brutal cases of victims along the border.”

The cast includes Eoin Macken as Philip and Amy De Bhrun as Aoife. Lochlann O’Mearáin also stars.

“Borderline” was created and written by John Forte. Robert Quinn serves as director, while Steve November and Mary Callery are executive producers. The series is produced by ShinAwiL and Further South Productions in association with Screen Ireland and Lionsgate Television. Lionsgate distributes the series internationally. In the U.K. and in Ireland, “Borderline” will premiere on MGM+ on Sept. 2.

Macken is best known for playing Doc in the 2016 “Resident Evil” film “The Final Chapter” as well as Gavin in “La Brea,” which ran on NBC for three seasons from 2021 to 2024, and Karl in “Nightflyers,” which ran on Syfy and Netflix for one season in 2018.

De Bhrun played Steph Corbett in Seasons 5 and 6 of the ITV-produced police procedural “Line of Duty,” which aired on BBC One. Her other credits include 2016’s “Jason Bourne” film, the AMC+ and Sundance Now series “Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale” and “Blackshore” and Ireland’s RTÉ. Up next, she’ll appear in the Cillian Murphy-led film “Small Things Like These.”

“Borderline” is one of several internationally acquired or co-produced series from Lionsgate, including “Son of a Critch,” which runs on CBC in Canada and the CW in the U.S., and “Prosper” and “Population 11,” which run on Stan in Australia.
