“Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” the sequel series to the Disney Channel original “Wizards of Waverly Place,” will premiere on the network in October.

Disney Channel will premiere the series’ first two episodes on Oct. 29 at 8:00 p.m. ET. The series’ first eight episodes will then be made available to stream on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the next day.

Following the network premiere, two new episodes — including a Halloween-themed episode — will premiere back-to-back on Oct. 30. Beginning on Nov. 8, episode premieres will move to Fridays at 8:00 p.m. ET, with two weekly episodes.

Raven-Symoné (“Raven’s Home”) and Danielle Fishel (“Girl Meets World”) are also set to direct episodes in season one.

“‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ follows an adult Justin Russo (David Henrie), who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex (Selena Gomez) brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World,” reads the series’ logline.

The series stars Henrie, LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele (as Roman Russo), Max Matenko (as Milo Russo), Taylor Cora (as Winter) and Mimi Gianopulos (as Giada Russo). Gomez will guest star as Alex in the first episode.

Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as writers and executive producers, along with executive producers Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez and Henrie. Andy Fickman directed and executive-produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes.

Gomez recently told Variety’s Marc Malkin that returning to the set of the Wizarding series felt like she was home again, “It felt like I was home again. I’m so happy I got to bring back this childhood gift that I was given to new little ones out there.”
