Hollywood Vet Gregg Ramer Launches Entertainment Law Firm

A new boutique firm has launched in Los Angeles to offer a particular set of services for the entertainment industry’s major players and newcomers alike.

Entertainment law veteran Gregg Ramer has unveiled Ramer Entertainment Law, A.P.C. , which aims to provide both companies and individuals working in entertainment with effective and personable representation.

Services include film financing, executive employment negotiations, union and guild matters and intellectual property analysis.

A frequent Variety Intelligence Platform guest columnist ( see his piece on the Disney-DirecTV carriage standoff), Ramer has been representing Hollywood throughout his two-decade legal career, starting as an attorney for the Directors Guild of America right out of Loyola Law School.

With years of experience at prestigious firms including Loeb & Loeb and Paul Hastings, Ramer aims to provide clients the “sweet spot” between the quality and expertise of major firms and the personal touch of independent ones.

Most important, he believes running a firm allows him to offer emerging talent the same level of attention often reserved for major players at a more affordable price point. “One of the problems with big firms is they can’t really represent people who are starting out, because that’s taking a risk,” Ramer said.

“I can take whatever chances I want because it’s just me, which is the fun part in a sense,” he added. “The truth is, I’m doing this because I love what I do and because I can do it at the highest levels for less and with flexibility. That’s going to bode well for clients, and it will make me a happier person in the long run.”
