Warner Bros.’ “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” held the lead at the U.K. and Ireland box office for a second consecutive weekend, earning £4.2 million ($5.6 million) for a cumulative total of £14.4 million ($19 million), according to numbers from Comscore.

Universal’s newcomer “Speak No Evil” secured the second position with a £1.4 million debut, while Studiocanal’s “Lee” entered the chart at number three with £705,643.
The National Theatre’s re-release of filmed play “Prima Facie – NT Live 2022” landed in fourth place, adding £556,470 to its total of £1.4 million. Universal’s “Despicable Me 4” continues its strong run in fifth place, earning £389,929 in its 10th week for a total of £46.2 million.
Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” follows in sixth, adding £359,588 for a cumulative £56.6 million over eight weeks. Lionsgate U.K.’s new entry “The Critic” debuted at number seven with £353,075. Sony Pictures’ “It Ends With Us” placed eighth, earning £327,196 for a total of £20.8 million, while Disney’s “Alien: Romulus” took ninth with £268,310, bringing its total to £12.7 million. Rounding out the top ten, DJ Tech LTD’s Malayalam-language “Ajayante Randam Moshanam” entered the chart with £189,982.
Coming up, Universal will distribute documentary “Jung Kook: I Am Still,” featuring the eponymous BTS member, on Sept. 18. On Sept. 20 the wide release is Mubi’s Cannes and Toronto-winning body horror “The Substance,” starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid. The day also sees Modern Films releasing Indian Sundance-winning coming-of-age-drama “Girls Will Be Girls” and Bucheon-winning horror-thriller “Strange Darling” from Icon Film Distribution. Another Sundance winner, the documentary “Sugarcane,” comes from Dogwoof.

From MetFilm Distribution comes Cédric Kahn’s César-winning French legal drama “The Goldman Case,” while Skye Films Ltd is giving a one-day only release to Dublin-winning documentary “Notes from Sheepland.” ICA Cinema is bowing IndieLisboa-winning documentary “Astrakan 79” and Signature family animation “200% Wolf.”
From Bollywood, AA Films U.K. is opening action film “Yudhra” and Bakrania Media romcom “Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam.”
The celebrations of the 85th year of Batman continue apace with Park Circus re-releasing Christopher Nolan’s trilogy – “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises” – and Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” The Spider-Man re-releases also continue with Sony opening “Spider-Man No Way Home” for one week only.
