Oprah Winfrey to Interview Riley Keough About Late Mother Lisa Marie Presley’s Memoir on CBS

Oprah Winfrey will sit down with actress Riley Keough — Elvis Presley’s granddaughter — for the CBS primetime event “An Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Maria and Riley,” which will air next month. The conversation reps the first extensive interview with Keough about her family since the death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, in 2023.

Winfrey interviewed Keough at the Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tenn., where the king of rock and roll is famously buried. The special, which airs Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, is described as “an intimate conversation about her life, her mother Lisa Marie’s life, and her famous family.”

The Winfrey special is also timed to the Oct. 8 release of Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” which Keough helped co-write and finish. Keough helped finish the book based on hours of stories that her mother had recorded. This will rep Keough’s first interview about the memoir.

Per CBS, “Riley shares what the writing process was like and stories and remembrances of her mother. Also featured are never-before-seen family photos and home videos, as well as selections of Lisa Marie’s personal audio recordings, including memories of her father, about whom Lisa Marie begins the book by writing: ‘I felt my father could change the weather. He was a god to me. A chosen human being.’ Riley, herself an Emmy-nominated actress and director, opens up to Oprah about the extreme highs, lows and pressures of being a Presley, and the deep, profound relationship she had with her mother.”

In the special, Winfrey and Keough discuss the book’s examination of Lisa Marie Presley’s childhood years with Elvis Presley (and then his death), her teen years, her marriages, her children and her descent into addiction.

Winfrey’s Harpo Productions is behind “An Oprah Special: The Presleys — Elvis, Lisa Maria and Riley.” Winfrey and Tara Montgomery are exec producers, while co-executive producer is Brian Piotrowicz.
