Gravitas Ventures has acquired U.S. rights to Caden Douglas’ dark comedy “Mother Father Sister Brother Frank.” The distributor will release the film on TVOD beginning Oct. 8. The film has also been sold for U.K., Australia and New Zealand distribution rights to Miracle Media Investments, which plans to release the film later this year. The trailer debuts below.

The film follows a suburban family as their uncle crashes Sunday dinner with a nasty surprise, and murder winds up on the menu. It had its world premiere earlier this year at Panic Fest in the U.S.

The cast is led by Mindy Cohn (AppleTV+ series “Palm Royale,” “Facts of Life”) as the mother, Enrico Colantoni (FX’s “English Teacher,” “Veronica Mars,” “Galaxy Quest”) as the father, Melanie Leishman (“Todd and the Book of Pure Evil,” “Mrs. America”) as the sister, Iain Stewart (“Reign”) as the brother, Juan Chioran (“Sneakerella,” “Hotel Transylvania,” the series) as Frank, and Sharron Matthews (“Mean Girls,” “Five Days at Memorial,” “Hairspray”).

Producers include Matt Schichter and Michael Lomenda, co-producer Johnathan Sharp, and executive producers at HighballTV.

The U.S. acquisition was negotiated by Jeffrey Cooper, owner of Cut Entertainment Group, and Gravitas Ventures’ acquisitions manager Mackenzie Maguire. The U.K./Australia/New Zealand acquisition was done by Cooper and Andy Taylor from Miracle Media.

Cohn will next be seen in Alec Roth’s “Billy Knight,” starring Al Pacino and Charlie Heaton, and earlier this year appeared in the Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale,” cast alongside Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney and Carol Burnett.

Colantoni has recently been seen in the postapocalyptic HBO Max limited series “Station Eleven,” and is currently co-starring on the FX critically acclaimed series “English Teacher.“
