Julia Roberts will receive an honorary tribute at the milestone 50th edition of the César Awards, France’s equivalent to the Oscars. The ceremony will take place on Feb. 28 at the Olympia Theater in Paris.

“Julia Roberts fascinates, she is a source of inspiration and an icon of world cinema,” said the César academy in a statement. “Julia Roberts is not just a movie star, she’s also an icon of popular culture, and her influence extends far beyond her performances.”

Since breaking through in 1990 with the role of Vivian Ward in “Pretty Woman,” Roberts has “enjoyed a string of successes, with roles as varied as they are unforgettable,” the academy continued, pointing to romantic comedies such as “My Best Friend’s Wedding” and “Notting Hill” as well as dramas like “The Pelican Affair,” “Erin Brockovich” and “Alone Against All,” for which she won the best actress Oscar in 2001.

Roberts has worked with critically acclaimed filmmakers such as Steven Soderbergh, with whom she filmed “Ocean’s Eleven” and “Oceans Twelve,” as well as Mike Nichols in “Closer.” She will next be seen in Luca Guadagnino’s thriller “After the Hunt” alongside Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny.

The Honorary César Award, which pays tribute to the career achievements of artists and filmmakers, has previously been handed out to David Fincher, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Cate Blanchett, Penelope Cruz, Robert Redford and George Clooney.

Aside from her acting career, Roberts is involved in philanthropic initiatives, including her role as a UNICEF ambassador.
