Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark might be dead, but a new, young, animated Iron Man is about to be born.

Disney Jr. has greenlit “Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends,” the first Iron Man preschool series, set for a summer 2025 debut on Disney Jr. and Disney+.

Currently in production, the series will feature a young Tony Stark and his “world-saving besties”: Riri Williams (Ironheart) and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk). The three cartoon heroes will work together to protect their city and each other.

Per the logline, “To help them in their Super Hero endeavors, they each have their own Iron Suits that allow them to fly and give them each enhanced super-strength. In addition, Iron Man has a Nano-Shield; Ironheart has a Heartbeat Bubble forcefield to protect people, and Iron Hulk has his strong Iron Boom clap and Iron Hulk Stomp.”

The trio will “work out of their beachfront base, Iron Quarters (IQ), under the supervision of their superpowered android, Vision, and their furry pup, Gamma, who has her very own Iron Pup suit and accompanies the Iron Friends on many of their adventures.”

The cast includes Mason Blomberg (“Shameless”), Kapri Ladd (“Danger Force”) and Aidyn Ahn (“Kids Say the Darndest Things”), who will voice Tony Stark (Iron Man), Riri Williams (Ironheart) and Amadeus Cho (Iron Hulk), respectively. David Kaye (“Transformers”) will voice the role of Vision, and Fred Tatasciore (“Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur”) is Gamma.

The protagonist in “Marvel’s Iron Man and His Awesome Friends” should not be confused with the young Tony Stark/Iron Man in Marvel’s “Spidey and His Amazing Friends,” who is voiced by John Stamos.

The series marks the latest move as part of Disney and Marvel’s broader strategy to introduce the Avengers characters to a new generation of fans.

Iron Man, the character, originated in 1963 in Marvel Comics. Downey Jr. portrayed the hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe across 10 movies, culminating with Tony Stark’s climactic death in 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.”

From Disney Branded Television, “Marvel’s Iron Man and his Awesome Friends” is executive produced by Sean Coyle (“Puppy Dog Pals”) and Harrison Wilcox (“Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends”). James Eason-Garcia (“Pupstruction”) is co-executive producer and story editor, Alex Cichon (“Lego Marvel: Spider-Man: Vexed by Venom”) is supervising producer; Ashley Rideout (“Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends”) is producer, and Michael Dowding (“Hello Ninja”) is supervising director. The series is produced by Disney Jr. and Marvel Studios in association with Atomic Cartoons.
