    Westlake boys golf team wins CIF-Southern Section Division 4 championship

    Sophomore Sammy Bermant fired a 5-under-par 66 to finish as the individual champion and senior Jackson Turner shot a 3-under 68 to lead the Westlake High boys golf team to the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 championship on Monday.

    The Warriors had a team total of 363 to finish 17 shots ahead of second-place Marina at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo.

    Senior Alex Chrikjian shot a 75, Devin Carta followed with a 76 and William Kwak had a 78 to round out the Westlake scorers. Senior Nathan Holiday finished with a 79 for the Warriors.

    Westlake earned one of the 14 team spots for the CIF-SS Individual Championship & SCGA Qualifying Tournament on Thursday at the Temecula Creek Golf Club. Bermant and Turner qualified as individuals.

    Lions advance to next round

    The Oaks Christian boys golf team posted a 372 to tie for a second at the CIF-SS Division 1 team championships at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.

    Graham Christopher shot a 70, Max Emberson had a 71 and Jared Abercombie had a 75 for the Lions, who tied San Marcos for second. Palm Desert won the team title with a 363. Oaks Christian advanced as a team to the CIF-SS Individual Championship & SCGA Qualifying Tournament.
