Conejo Valley students latest to get back to school

The school year is fully upon us.

A pack of students milled about a central quad at Redwood Middle School in Thousand Oaks Wednesday morning before the morning bell marked the beginning of the school year in Conejo Valley Unified School District.

When the bell rang, students flooded to class, some younger students nervously consulting folded paper schedules while veterans marched purposefully to their classrooms.

Nearly all of Ventura County's K-12 public schools have reopened for fall classes, with just one, Santa Clara Elementary School District in Santa Paula, which is set to begin on Aug. 26.

Schools in the Conejo Valley, Ojai, Moorpark, Port Hueneme, El Rio and a handful of other communities returned this week, joining schools in Oxnard, Oak Park, Ventura, Santa Paula and Fillmore that started earlier this month.
