A 60-year-old Van Nuys woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of several felonies after she fled from sheriff’s deputies who tried to stop her after she allegedly stole goods from a shoe store at the Camarillo Premium Outlets.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Ken Truitt said the woman got into a black Lexus outside the store around 5 p.m. before going through a traffic stop initiated by officers at intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Camarillo Center Drive, then bolted for the southbound side of Highway 101. Deputies pursued her to the top of the Conejo Grade where she exited at the scales and went through a closed gate, he said.

She was arrested on suspicion of organized retail theft, evasion of law enforcement during a pursuit and resisting arrest, all felonies. She was also arrested on suspicion of vandalism in connection with damage to the gate, but it's not clear whether that will rise to the level of a felony.

The woman was receiving medical attention because the air bag in her vehicle had activated, but would be booked into the main jail in Ventura after that, Truitt said.
