JACK POINTNER

School: Buena

Year: Junior

Sport: Water polo

Comment: The junior utility player led the Bulldogs to six wins over six days last week. Pointner finished with 26 goals, eight steals and seven assists as Buena defeated San Marcos 10-8 and Oxnard 20-3 in Channel League games before winning four games to claim the Buena Ventura tournament over the weekend. Buena is 18-2 overall on the season.

SOPHIA PEREZ

School: Oak Park

Year: Sophomore

Sport: Cross country

Comment: The sophomore made it 2 for 2 in Coastal Canyon League meets, winning the individual title in the league’s second meet last Tuesday with a time of 18 minutes, 33.5 seconds, while leading the Eagles to their second team victory. Perez won the first CCL meet with a time of 18:21.9.
