    Nineteen local teams earn bids to play in CIF-SS girls volleyball playoffs

    Nineteen local teams were in the field when the CIF-Southern Section released its girls volleyball playoff brackets Saturday morning.

    Eleven of those games will host first-round games, including Marmonte League heavyweights Oaks Christian and Thousand Oaks in Division 2.

    Oaks Christian, which had been rated within the top 10 teams in the section at times this season, escaped Division 1.

    Three area teams that finished league play without an automatic playoff berth received at-large bids,, including Newbury Park, St. Bonaventure and Thacher.

    The playoffs begin Wednesday with first-round games at 6 p.m.

    In Division 2, Marmonte League champion Oaks Christian (22-8) will host Rancho Christian (15-4) and Thousand Oaks (27-5) will host Valley Christian (21-5)

    Coastal Canyon League champion Royal (18-9) will visit Rosary Academy (19-7) and Agoura (16-5) will host Warren (17-7) in Division 3.

    In Division 4, at-large selection Newbury Park (17-13) will visit Desert Christian Academy (16-3)

    Villanova Prep (17-5) will visit Loma Linda Academy (22-1), Camarillo (10-15) will visit La Serna (21-12) ,Moorpark (9-5) will host Pacifica Christian (16-14) and Ventura (15-13) will host Mayfair (20-8) in Division 5.

    In Division 6, St. Bonaventure (10-10) will host Paramount (17-7) and Frontier League champion Grace School (12-4) will host Gabrielino (26-8).

    Tri-Valley League champion Nordhoff (13-4) will play at Godinez (17-12) and Beacon Hill (11-4) will host Firebaugh (17-13) in Division 7.

    In Division 9, Hueneme (9-14-2) will play at South El Monte (15-12) and Thacher (7-7) will host Rancho Verde (11-13), Channel Islands (12-6) will play at San Gorgonio (15-11) and Ojai Valley (5-7) will host Nogales (11-11).

    Besant Hill (3-3) will visit Delphi Academy (11-5) in Division 10.
