The Los Angeles Dodgers are preparing to take on the New York Yankees in the World Series, which will begin Friday in Los Angeles following the Dodgers' victory over the New York Mets to clinch the National League Championship Series on Sunday.

The upcoming Fall Classic will be the 12th time the Dodgers and Yankees have faced one another over the past eight decades, but the first since 1981.

The Yankees won eight of the prior World Series matchups between the teams since 1941, with the Dodgers coming out on top in 1955, 1963 and 1981, according to Major League Baseball .

The most recent clash between the teams took place during the regular season in July, when the Dodgers won two games of the three-game series.

Reflecting on the challenges ahead following Sunday night's victory over the Mets, Dodgers superstar shortstop Mookie Betts said in an interview with MLB that he was looking forward to playing against the Yankees.

“It’s kind of what the people wanted,” he said. "It’s what we all want. It’s fun. A battle of two good teams, a lot of long flights across the country, but that’s what makes it fun."

Where can I watch the Dodgers game?

The World Series will be broadcast on FOX, as well as streamed online at MLB.TV . All games are scheduled to begin at 5:08 p.m.

Following Game 1 on Friday, Game 2 will also take place at Dodger Stadium, followed by two games in New York on Oct. 28 and 29.

Games are scheduled for Oct. 30 in New York, Nov. 1 in Los Angeles and Nov. 2 in Los Angeles, as needed.

The Dodgers are hoping to secure their 8th World Series title, while the Yankees of tallied an unmatched 27 victories.

Both teams boast presumptive MVPs in the Dodgers' Shohei Otani and the Yankee's Aaron Judge.

The expected starting lineups for Game 1 for the Dodgers included Shohei Ohtani, DH; Mookie Betts, RF; Freddie Freeman, 1B; Teoscar Hernández, LF; Max Muncy, 3B; Kiké Hernández, CF; Gavin Lux, 2B; Will Smith, C; and Tommy Edman, SS, according to MLB.

Predicted starters for the Yankees were Gleyber Torres, 2B; Juan Soto, RF; Aaron Judge, CF; Anthony Rizzo, 1B; Giancarlo Stanton, DH; Jazz Chisholm Jr., 3B; Anthony Volpe, SS; Austin Wells, C; and Alex Verdugo, LF.

The Dodgers last won the World Series in 2020, while the Yankees last victory took place in 2009.

The Dodgers defeated the Mets in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday to earn their spot in the World Series. The Yankees defeated the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday in Game 5 of the American League Championship series.
