Smittys Face Uphill Battle In Super Regional
ABERDEEN, SD (HubCityRadio.com) – The Aberdeen Smittys opened up their super regional series with the Lynx of Brandon Valley Post 131 with a 5-2 loss & their backs are up against the wall, needing to win back to back games on Friday to advance to the state tournament in Brookings.
Watertown Clips Pierre in Game One of Regionals
Watertown Post 17 would score three runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Pierre Post 8 3-2 in game one of the Regional Playoffs on Thursday in Watertown. The Eights would get both of its runs in the top of the sixth on a two out error as Cooper Terwilliger hit a fly ball over the top of the right fielder’s head. Charlie Simpson and Dawson Getz would score as Getz would have the only hit of the ballgame for the Eights as Kayden Rylance would go six innings allowing just the one hit with five walks and eight strikeouts for Watertown. Nathan Briggs would get the seventh inning save in 1-2-3 order. Miles Doyle would go five and two thirds giving up the three runs on four hits, four walks and seven strikeouts. Getz would get the final out in the bottom of the sixth. Nash Berg had the two run double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game and Markus Pitkin would drive in Berg for the winning run.

In addition, eight Redbirds were named to the 2023-24 Summit League Academic Honor Roll. Mother of Rapid City’s monument brought to Journey Museum
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - History is being restored as the monument to the Mother of Rapid City has been moved to the outside of the Journey Museum. Alice Gossage nicknamed the Mother of Rapid City for her contributions to charities and journalism in the area, has a monument most people did not know about on top of Skyline Drive.

Hay yield and quality varies across the Upper Great Plains
Rain has been a blessing for some hay producers and a curse for others in Nebraska and the Dakotas. According to University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor of agronomy and horticulture Jerry Volesky, yield for grass and alfalfa hay has been relatively high this year in central and eastern Nebraska, an area that has had much-needed rain after a long period of drought. Areas in the Nebraska Panhandle have seen comparatively lower hay yields due to not as much rain.

Alleged SD pedophile takes his own life when faced with arrest
CANOVA, SD (KELO.com) — The New York Post is reporting a disturbing story from South Dakota of an alleged pedophile killing himself earlier this week when confronted by a predator hunter. 60-year old Donald Letcher reportedly gave graphic detail of disturbing videos featuring children – including infants – to Predator Poachers Founder Alex Rosen. Rosen’s crew recorded enough to use as evidence and called in police, and persuaded Letcher to admit his crime to an officer. Letcher then walked inside his home and took his own life with a gun. Letcher was convicted of molesting a 9 year old girl in 1996, but that conviction was overturned.
