Josh Allen Basically Admits He Doesn’t Need The Preseason

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it a thousand more times. Why teams play any starters in the preseason is clinically insane . The games don’t count, the stats don’t count, and every single year teams lose key pieces to the team that otherwise could have been avoided. The Bills plan to play Josh Allen and the starters in their first preseason game and nobody with a brain understands why. Let’s all pray nothing serious happens to Josh Allen in a game that literally doesn’t count.

Oh, and the Bills franchise quarterback essentially admitted he doesn’t need the preseason snaps. It’s nice to get the body going but Allen admits he doesn’t need to see a single second of time on the field during the preseason.

“Yes and no. It doesn’t really, I don’t feel, make a difference for me at this point in my career,” Allen said, via Jon Scott of WGRZ. “To get things rolling would be nice, but I understand not getting out there and making sure we’re being healthy and being protected. It’s a double-edged sword any way you look at it. If I’m asked to play, I’ll play. If I’m told not to play, I won’t play. The competitive juices in me want to play, but I understand that Week One — we got some time.”

Why hasn’t Sean McDermott been fired yet ? The season is long enough and the Bills are already incredibly thin and need Allen to play hero ball to have any chance to win. Why are you playing the guy a single snap in a game that doesn’t count? It will never make sense. If college football players don’t need a preseason, then NFL stars shouldn’t be playing either.
