2024-25 Premier League Power Rankings: Preseason

The 2024-25 Premier League season is finally here. Throughout the season the Vendetta Sports Media football coverage team will keep you updated with our power rankings of England’s 20 best teams. For the first one of the 2024-25 Premier League season, Jackson Fyda and Jerry Walker take the reins.

    20. Ipswich Town
    Average 20 (Jerry 20, Jackson 20)

Do we have another Luton Town situation with Ipswich? The Tractor Boys were in League One just two years ago, but despite their meteoric rise, they have not conducted a lot of business in the transfer window so far. There is still time to get players in, but as of right now, expect Ipswich’s stay in the Premier League to be a short one. – Jackson Fyda

    T-18) Nottingham Forest
    Average 18.5 (Jerry 18, Jackson 19)

Nottingham Forest finished in 17th a season ago and has not done too much to improve on a struggling squad. The biggest addition is Nikola Milenković from Fiorentina. The center-back played in 50 matches for the Italian side last year while starting for Serbia in all three of their Euro 2024 matches. The hope is that he can help a defense that allowed the second most goals for a non-relegated side with 67. – Jerry Walker

    T-18) Southampton
    Average 18.5 (Jerry 19, Jackson 18)

Southampton bounced right back to the Premier League after one season in the EFL Championship. They needed a playoff final win over Leeds to make it back. Since gaining promotion they have added some experience in the form of Adam Lallana and Charlie Taylor while bringing in an array of youthful talent. The big loss is that of Che Adams . Southampton’s second-leading scorer last year will be missed during the 2024-25 Premier League season. – Jerry Walker

    17) Brentford
    Average 16 (Jerry 16, Jackson 16)

Brentford had a disappointing Premier League campaign last year that at one point had the Bees involved in the relegation battle. That was after star striker Ivan Toney missed the first half of the season due to a gambling ban, and Brentford never got things going again even with Toney returning later on in the year. This season, Toney will be there from the start and Brentford will look to have a much better season, this time around. – Jackson Fyda

    16) Leicester
    Average 15.5 (Jerry 14, Jackson 17)

By far the best team during the 2023-24 Championship season was Leicester. It is only preseason, but Leicester have been unable to score in their last three matches. That brings some concern similar to that of their relegation season two years ago. It will be interesting to see how they do under newly hired Steve Cooper after Enzo Maresca departed for the Chelsea job. While they have not added many players, the addition of Bobby De Cordova-Reid could very well benefit their attack. – Jerry Walker

    15) Everton
    Average 14.5 (Jerry 17, Jackson 12)

Everton has been flirting with relegation for years now. Will this be the year they finally go down, or will Everton remain one of the few teams to never be relegated from the Premier League? Whether it is being saved from relegation on the final day or facing point deductions, Everton also brings drama. Expect to see more of it from the Toffees this year. – Jackson Fyda

    T-13) Bournemouth
    Average 13 (Jerry 15, Jackson 11)

Bournemouth stunned everybody with a 12th-place finish in the league last year. Now, they will look to build on their successful season last year and aim to finish higher in the table this season. It will be interesting to see how USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams does in his second season with the club after an injury-ridden first year in Bournemouth, as well as keeping an eye on American-born Mexico National Team defender Julián Araujo . – Jackson Fyda

    T-13) Fulham
    Average 13 (Jerry 11, Jackson 15)

While Fulham lost João Palhinha to Bayern this window, they did bring Ryan Sessegnon back to the club and signed Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal. That’s some decent business, and for a team that screams mid-table mediocrity more often than not, expect Fulham to have a solid year and to give some of the big boys a tough away day. – Jackson Fyda

    12) Wolverhampton
    Average 12.5 (Jerry 12, Jackson 13)

A 14th-place finish for Wolverhampton was to be expected and could very well be repeated this year. They are too good to be dragged into a relegation battle without major injuries, and not nearly competitive enough to fight for a European spot. Mid-table mediocrity it is. The loss of Pedro Neto will be noticeable, but the signing of 21-year-old Rodrigo Gomes could be good for years to come. – Jerry Walker

    11) Brighton
    Average 12 (Jerry 12, Jackson 14)

Roberto De Zerbi is gone. Now, former FC St. Pauli manager Fabian Hürzeler is at the helm. It will be interesting to see if Hürzeler is the right man to continue Brighton’s success in the Premier League, but with players such as Kaoru Mitoma , Tariq Lamptey , and Evan Ferguson , expect Brighton to remain a threat for all Premier League sides. – Jackson Fyda

    10) Crystal Palace
    Average 11 (Jerry 13, Jackson 9)

Crystal Palace finished last year on a tear and will look to continue that momentum into this season. While the loss of Michael Olise is a big one, Palace still has enough about them to have a solid year. Watch for Eberechi Eze and Jean-Phillippe Mateta to be key parts of the Palace attack. Keep an eye on American defender Chris Richards as well. – Jackson Fyda

    9) West Ham
    Average 9.5 (Jerry 9, Jackson 10)

West Ham was one of the more active teams during this summer’s transfer window following the departure of David Moyes and the hiring of Julen Lopetegui. They have signed 18-year-old wonderkid Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras for £25.5m ($32.82m), Max Kilman from Wolves for £40m ($51.48m), Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United for £15m ($19.3m), Niclas Füllkrug from Borussia Dortmund for £27m ($34.75m), and Crysencio Summerville from Leeds for £25m ($32.17m). These players could add to a deep team that will look to prove people wrong after a disappointing season a year ago. – Jerry Walker

    T-7) Newcastle
    Average 7.5 (Jerry 7, Jackson 8)

Last season was a major disappointment for Newcastle after a top-four finish the season prior. Over the summer they sold off just two players, but two that did not play much if at all, and for a total sum of £68m (87.51m). With the profits, Newcastle brought in an array of youth ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season. This youth may not contribute right away which means they will be relying on the likes of Alexander Isak , Anthony Gordon , and Bruno Guimarães to get back to Europe. – Jerry Walker

    T-7) Chelsea
    Average 7.5 (Jerry 8, Jackson 7)

Oh, Chelsea. Why did you let Mauricio Pochettino go? Now, the future of the club is in the hands of the 44-year-old former Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca. While he is a promising young manager, it will be difficult for him to have serious success with a young Chelsea squad that is still trying to find its identity while players continue to shuffle in and out of the club every day. Expect Chelsea to push for European spots but not much else. – Jackson Fyda

    6) Manchester United
    Average 6 (Jerry 6, Jackson 6)

Last season was a major letdown for Manchester United. Sure they won the FA Cup, but an 8th-place finish in the Premier League table was not at all what they wanted to see. They have brought in some exciting players over the summer: Matthijs de Ligt , Noussair Mazraoui , and Joshua Zirkzee . It is going to be a make-or-break year for Erik ten Hag. – Jerry Walker

    T-4) Tottenham
    Average 4.5 (Jerry 5, Jackson 4)

In the first season of Ange-ball, Tottenham surprised many on their way to a fifth-place finish in the Premier League. There is lots to like for them heading into the 2024-25 Premier League season. The addition of Dominic Solanke will help the attack immensely. The former Bournemouth striker finished with 19 goals a year ago. Paired with Richarlison and Heung-min Son , Solanke could thrive. – Jerry Walker

    T-4) Aston Villa
    Average 4.5 (Jerry 4, Jackson 5)

Aston Villa is preparing for an exciting 2024-25 season where they will look to not only recreate the magic of their incredible Premier League season last year but also put together a competitive Champions League campaign. However, many clubs struggle to balance the rigors of Champions League matches with weekly Premier League games just as Newcastle did last season. With Unai Emery in charge and Ollie Watkins up top, however, it would be hard to imagine Aston Villa having a disappointing campaign. – Jackson Fyda

    3) Liverpool
    Average 3 (Jerry 3, Jackson 3)

Liverpool seems to have flown completely under the radar this summer since the departure of Jürgen Klopp. The only addition to Liverpool this summer was the hiring of Arne Slot as manager. There was not a single player brought in while numerous left the Merseyside club. Despite this, Liverpool still has a very strong side and will cause trouble for all of the top dogs once again. – Jerry Walker

    2) Arsenal
    Average 2 (Jerry 2, Jackson 2)

The Gunners have finished second best to Manchester City in back-to-back seasons but feel confident that this could be the year they win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season. Although they have not splashed the cash so far in the transfer window besides bringing in Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, Mikel Arteta’s side is looking strong heading into this Premier League season. Now, whether they can finally get over the hump that is Manchester City to win the league remains to be seen. But with a strong defense, midfield, and attack, Arsenal has the tools, and the title-chasing experience, to give City a run for their money. – Jackson Fyda

Manchester United To Complete Stunning Leny Yoro Transfer

    1) Manchester City
    Average 1 (Jerry 1, Jackson 1)

It is no surprise that Manchester City comes into the season as the top team in our 2024-25 Premier League Power Rankings. The Premier League champions for the past four seasons and six of the last seven looks as likely as ever to return to the top of England’s best division. With Erling Haaland , Kevin De Bruyne , and Phil Foden leading the line it will be a tall task for anyone to dethrone Man City. With that being said if Haaland somehow fails to find his scoring boots or gets injured City may be in trouble as they sold their other striker Julián Álvarez to Atlético Madrid for a whopping £81.5m ($104.88m). The lack of forward depth may be their only weakness. – Jerry Walker
