After five years away from the NBA, forward Guerschon Yabusele is signing a one-year minimum deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, NBA insider Michael Scotto of Hoopshype was among the first to report Sunday.

Their mutual interest was first linked by Shams Charania of The Athletic , noting that Yabusele was “resolving his $2.5 million contract buyout with Real Madrid.”

Yabusele, on multiple occasions, has expressed interest in returning to the NBA. He posted a tweet last week suggesting he’s ready for a second chance.

Chatter surrounding the subject soared in light of his dynamic Olympic showing. The Frenchman averaged 14.0 points and 3.3 rebounds across six Olympic competitions, including 19.7 points on 67.5 percent true shooting. He tallied 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting in 31 minutes during the Gold Medal game against the United States.

He made an amicable impact after head coach Vincent Collet opted to play smaller, pushing reigning Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert out of the rotation.

Yabusele last appeared in an NBA game in May of 2019. In 74 career games with the Boston Celtics, he averaged 2.3 points and 1.4 points on 44.2 percent shooting, 32.3 percent from 3-point range and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.
