Lonzo Ball says to expect him back on the court in 2024-25

The last time Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball has played an NBA basketball game was on Jan. 14, 2022, before suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee, which was expected to keep him out only 6-8 weeks.

Since then, he’s undergone three different knee surgeries, including a meniscus transplant in late May.

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, after a long wait, Ball says to expect him to be back on the court when asked about if he would be ready for the 2024-25 season.

“[Fans can expect] me back on the court,” Ball said. “That’s all I want to do.”

Lonzo Ball is entering the final year of a four-year, $80 million contract he signed with Chicago ahead of the 2021-22 season. Ball, who owns a $21.4 million cap hit, owns $1 million in unlikely bonuses tied to him playing at least 62 games plus an undisclosed amount of team wins, playoff berths and All-Star/All-NBA/All-Defensive appearances, according to Spotrac.

Damian Lillard doesn’t believe he’s breaking down as a player

It’s very unfortunate the luck he’s had over the last three seasons, considering he was one of the best pure point guards in the league. Prior to his injury, he was averaging 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals on 42.3 percent shooting from 3-point range.

For his career, the 27-year-old has posted 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals, showcasing himself as one of the best pure passers with excellent point-of-attack defense at his size. It remains to be seen if he will ever get to 75 percent of what he once was with Chicago, who’s projected to be one of the worst teams in the East this season.
