2024 College Football Hot Takes: ACC

Football is so back. We had some success with this last year so we’re bringing it back. Trey has too many things to do so you’re not getting a sexy intro paragraph. It is what it is. Miami Wins The ACC

I’m doing it. I’m falling for the cheese. No, I’m not a Mario Cristobal guy but it’s not like Miami has to go through the SEC. From a pure talent perspective, this team is by far the best in the conference and I just don’t think it’s close.

Cristobal does what he always does and recruits well along the line of scrimmage. Well, those guys are turning into seasoned vets now. Football is a simple game and when you can win with dominance at both lines of scrimmage, you’re going to go a long way.

More than anything, this is a vote of confidence for Cam Ward and Damien Martinez. I love both players. If those two guys carry the offense and make Miami actually explosive, they’re winning this Conference. Something I expect to be the case.

Isaac Brown Is Already Better Than Isaac Guerendo

I guess this isn’t a hot take considering Kyle Shanahan has missed on 800 consecutive third round picks that he’s used on running backs. My hot take is not only will the 49ers botch the Guerendo pick, by week 8 everyone will understand the freshman Louisville has Isaac Brown is miles better.

Syracuse Makes The Conference Title Game

Has anyone looked at Syracuse’s schedule? If you haven’t, check this cheese out. It’s so insane. Why can’t Kyle McCord do enough to make this a one-loss schedule? If they go 1-1 against NC State and Miami, that’s on the table. Give me the Orange in the title game.

SMU Won’t Be Overmatched

When most teams go from the American to the ACC, they’re going to struggle with that transition. I don’t expect that to be the case. SMU has real talent and a very capable quarterback. I’m not picking them to win the Conference but I do think they will surprise people.
