Maryland Football Got Done Dirty in College Football 25

College Football 25 is here after so many years of waiting. Early feedback seems to be overwhelmingly positive, and seeing fresh college football content on the timeline is a lot of fun. I don’t have a PS5 and never really got into football video games, but we do have guys streaming the game all the time over on the Vendetta Twitch channel . Even though I probably won’t own the game for the foreseeable future, I can tell you with absolute certainty that Maryland Football got hosed by EA Sports. Get a load of these ratings:

79 overall? Worst team in the Big Ten? The second-worst power conference team in the game? What are we doing here? I’m not going to sit here and tell you the Terps are headed to the College Football Playoff or anything (they actually made the CFP in the first-ever rebuild on this game ), but that placement is just disrespectful. 79 overall is even with Rice, and Maryland would beat those guys by multiple touchdowns.

Nobody in their right mind would say Maryland Football is that bad. My guy Garrett Burroughs’ 2024 Big Ten Football Preview slotted UMD around the middle of the conference. You know I ride with my guys. Last I checked, 11th of 18 in the Big Ten is nowhere near the second-worst power conference team in the country.

Maryland Football Is Finally Out of the Big Ten East

This is most likely a side effect of Maryland being buried in the Big Ten East for so many years. I have maintained that the public perception of the program would be significantly different if the Terps got to play Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue every year instead of suffering guaranteed losses to Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. Ideally, Maryland would have been able to hang a little better in those games (although the refs absolutely bailed out Michigan last year), but those programs are just in a different stratosphere. Is what it is. Now that the Big Ten did away with divisions, I’m hoping Maryland Football starts to get more respect. Mike Locksley has put together a good program. Solid recruiting pedigree, three bowl wins in a row, you get the picture.

I’m sure there are other issues that Maryland fans who actually have CFB 25 could bring up. I’ll leave it at the ridiculous team overall rating. Let’s be better, EA Sports.
