2024 Fantasy Football Breakout Candidates: Week 2
We are through one week of the 2024 NFL Season. Whether it’s fantasy football related or not, there’s always overreactions and underreactions after Week 1, so Week 2 becomes one of the more interesting weeks of the season. Which fantasy players do we have breaking out for Week 2? Let’s dive right into it!
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was ruled out with a hamstring injury on Monday night. Thankfully, the team ruled him out Sunday instead of Monday, giving fantasy owners (in lineup leagues) the affordability to pick someone else up! In deeper leagues, Dotson, who played in just 32 snaps Week 1, could be the next man up after Devonta Smith, Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkley , among others. I don’t expect a crazy target share behind those three, but I expect Dotson to be involved offensively–especially more than the mere one target he received in Week 1 against Green Bay.
It was a bad week for any Marvin Harrison fantasy owner in Week 1– really bad. The No. 4 overall pick played in 90 percent of the team’s snaps, but totaled just three targets–less than a 10 percent target share–with one catch for four yards. He was one of the most touted rookie receivers we’ve had in recent memory in the preseason, and against a middling Rams secondary, I see Week 2 as a good bounce-back spot for Harrison, who’s listed as WR18 in standard leagues, per Fantasy Pros .
DeMarcus Robinson, WR, Rams
It’s not often we’ve had three players on this list that play the exact same position. This week is an anomaly. Nevertheless, Robinson is likely the second wideout up after Cooper Kupp in lieu of Puka Nacua ‘s Week 1 injury against Detroit. Robinson, who logged four catches (seven targets) for 42 yards, is an explosive play waiting to happen. While Kupp is expected to see a large portion of the target share, I think Robinson could have a decent impact against a Cardinals defense that got shredded in Week 1. Am I worried about Los Angeles’ offensive line concerns? Sure. But as long as Stafford’s on the field, I have confidence the passing game will step up.
