Fields says Steelers Coaching Is Better Than Bears

Justin Fields has been one of the feel-good stories to start this season, as he is 3-0 as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Let’s just say he is happier in his current situation, an opinion he expressed on a recent episode of “Not Just Football” hosted by co-Steeler Cam Heyward .

In the podcast, Fields was asked which team had the better all-around coaching. He replied, “ Pittsburgh…it’s not close .” This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of us, as Chicago has been a total dumpster fire for the last decade and a half, besides a few decent seasons sprinkled in. Justin spent his first three years as a Bear before being traded to the Steelers this off-season for a sixth-round pick. Many people had Fields as their dark-horse MVP candidate entering last year as the Bears were thought to have a revitalized offense. But, it was the same old Bears and Fields threw for just 2,562 passing yards, sixteen touchdowns with nine interceptions. P.S. The Bears have never had anyone throw for 4,000 passing yards, ever!

    Bears QB Decision

Chicago had the first overall pick in the upcoming draft, thanks to the Carolina Panthers. The Bears were likely going to take star QB prospect Caleb Williams out of USC. Which, of course, they ended up doing. Because of this, Fields knew his days were numbered. When asked about this, Fields said, “ I kinda had a feeling I was gonna get traded…you know, after the season, you have to go to exit meetings. They kept it pretty brief, they said, ‘Tricky situation right here. A situation that we’ve never been in.’ … It’s two different conversations when you’re in the same situation (having the No. 1 pick in the draft). You kinda get the feeling of what’s gonna happen .”

Fields doesn’t seem to have any beef with his former team, as he said, “ They kinda didn’t do me too bad by letting me choose where I want to be. I’m just glad I was able to end up here .”

2024 NFL Season: Week 3 Overreactions

The Steelers got Justin Fields for a steal, as he is still on his rookie contract. He is a bargain of a QB right now and has been playing well for them in a game-manager role. He isn’t facing pressure to be the savior of the franchise like he did in Chicago, and I think this is why he is succeeding.
