UFC Paris 2024 Preview And Predictions

The UFC is taking its annual trip to Paris, France. The promotion is bringing another stacked fight card to the country. The card is filled with several top-tier French fighters and is filled with rising talent from the country.

Join Vendetta Sports Media as we preview and predict the UFC Paris main card. You can find our prediction records below.

    James: 99-74

    Garrett: 98-69

    Jerry: 84-71

    Anthony: 100-67

Fares Ziam vs. Matt Frevola- Lightweight Bout

James: The UFC Paris main card opens with a lightweight bout between Fares Ziam and Matt Frevola. Ziam is a 27-year-old French prospect with a 5-2 UFC record. This bout against Frevola will be a big step up in competition that he earned from a three-fight win streak. Frevola is a veteran with a 5-4-1 UFC record. This bout will be his return after suffering a knockout loss against Benoit Saint-Denis nearly ten months ago.

Ziam is a sniper from the outside. If he is moving forward, he will look to land straight strikes and kicks. That said, he is more than willing to let his opponent get aggressive and sit down on counterstrikes. This gives him a couple of plausible paths to victory depending on the matchup.

Frevola is a dangerous striker who attempts to take his opponent’s head off in boxing exchanges. This is best accomplished when he can get into the pocket and trade with his opponent. It should also be noted that Frevola has underrated wrestling and can use that tool to pick up wins.

The UFC Paris main card opener previews as a great fight. The striking exchanges should be close as both fighters are capable of landing knockout shots. The stylistic matchup should create exchanges because of Frevola’s willingness to throw and Ziam’s counterstriking. That said, I believe the difference factor will be Frevola’s grappling. In a close fight, I want to side with the fighter who is more likely to win rounds with grappling. I will take Frevola by decision .

    Garrett: Ziam via TKO

    Jerry: Frevola via KO/TKO

    Anthony: Frevola via KO/TKO

Morgan Charriere vs. Gabriel Miranda- Featherweight Bout

James: At UFC Paris, Morgan Charriere will fight Gabriel Miranda. Charriere is one of the most popular French MMA fighters in the world. The Cage Warriors alum made a name for himself across Europe before joining the UFC. Now, he sits at 1-1 in the promotion. That record does not jump off the page, but he is a legit prospect worth watching closely. Miranda has an identical UFC record to Charriere. The difference is that he is 34 years old while Charriere is 28. Regardless, this is an important fight for both fighters. It is never good to have a UFC record of 1-2.

Charriere is a very impressive striker. This is largely because he combines speed and technical ability. This allows him to intelligently pressure his opponent while being the fighter who controls the distance. Charriere’s best weapons are his straight punches and kicks. The issue with his game is that he does not throw as much as you would like which can hurt him in close fights.

Miranda is a grappler. In almost every fight, his most likely path to victory is to land a submission. This has led to success because he will attempt takedowns and can get to strong positions. That said, the remainder of his skills are underdeveloped which limits his overall potential.

This UFC Paris preview favors Charriere. Miranda does have a path to victory, but it is small. If he cannot land a submission early into this fight, he will struggle. Meanwhile, Charriere can use his striking to finish this fight at any moment. Plus, he has solid grappling defense. I will take Charierre by second-round knockout.

    Garrett: Charriere via TKO

    Jerry: Charriere via KO/TKO

    Anthony: Charriere via KO/TKO

    UFC Paris 2024 Best Bets

Kevin Jousset vs. Bryan Battle- Welterweight Bout

James: Kevin Jousset will fight Bryan Battle at UFC Paris. Jousset is the French fighter in this matchup, but Battle is the more recognizable name to a general audience. Battle was the middleweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter Season 29. Eventually, he dropped to welterweight and has gone 3-1 in the division. Meanwhile, Jouset is 2-0 in the UFC.

Jousset is a distance striker who wants to use his size to his advantage. The best attacks in his arsenal are his jab and lead hook. These weapons allow him to attack from the outside while staying defensively responsible.

Battle is also a distance striker who wants to attack from the outside. This is done with jabs and leg kicks. Despite excelling from a distance, Battle is also willing to exchange in the pocket. This comes with risks, but it also helps him land big shots. Lastly, Battle uses his length to land submissions in grappling exchanges.

This UFC Paris bout previews to be a close fight while the pair are at range. It will be interesting to see if either fighter can establish an advantage in that realm. That said, I think Battle is more likely to find success in different areas. This includes the pocket and clinch. On top of that, he is the better grappler and is more likely to land a submission. Those difference makers force me to side with Battle. I will take Battle by round-three knockout .

    Garrett: Battle via decision

    Jerry: Battle via decision

    Anthony: Battle via decision

William Gomis vs. Joanderson Brito- Featherweight Bout

James: UFC Paris features a featherweight clash between William Gomis and Joanderson Brito. Both of these fighters are on hot streaks. Gomis is undefeated in the UFC after three fights in the organization. Brito is 5-1 in the promotion with four consecutive wins. The future will look bright for whichever fighter comes out on top of this matchup.

Gomis’ game plan is orientated around his distance striking and counter-punching. In order for this to be effective he has to dictate the range and land from the outside. This is usually done with straights and kicks. If his opponent pressures, he will land counters. The biggest issue with Gomis is that he does not throw enough volume which limits his overall upside.

Brito is an aggressive fighter who looks to finish the fight. On the feet, he pressures opponents with hard strikes. This begins with his low kick. Brito attempts to kick his opponent’s leg as hard as possible. If his opponent does not adjust, he will destroy their leg. Similarly, he throws a hard jab and looks to land his right hand behind it.

This UFC Paris bout previews as a clash of styles. Gomis’ passive distance striking and Brito’s aggressiveness are vastly different. In that clash of styles, Gomis will need to have perfect footwork to avoid exchanges with Brito. Additionally, he will need to manage Brito’s leg kicks. If Gomis is not perfect in both realms, Brito will find success. Additionally, Brito will be the fight with more grappling upside. I will see Gomis winning the minutes before Brito can find a finish. I will take Brito by first-round submission .

    Garrett: Brito via TKO

    Jerry: Brito via KO/TKO

    Anthony: Brito via decision

Dana White’s Contender Series: Season 8, Episode 7 Recap

No. 4 Nassourdine Imavov vs. No. 8 Brendan Allen- Middleweight Bout

James: The UFC Paris co-main event features a middleweight bout between Nassourdine Imavov and Brendan Allen. This is an incredible co-main event for a fight night card. We rarely see a top-ten matchup between two ranked fighters in this spot. On top of that, both fighters are riding winning streaks. Imavov has won consecutive fights, pushing his UFC record to 6-2. More importantly, he is coming off a massive win against Jared Cannonier. Allen has a 12-2 UFC record and is on a seven-fight win streak

Imavov is an impressive striker. On the outside, he is long and quick. This allows him to pick his opponents apart with straight strikes. Furthermore, he uses his speed to get out of range to prevent taking counter shots while also landing counters when his opponents throw. In the grappling, he has solid wrestling. The issues arise in the clinch. This results in being held up against the fence for long periods.

Allen is a strong grappler. The best aspect of his game is his top control. Allen has strong control, advances position, and submits opponents. On the feet, his striking is coming together. The best weapons in his arsenal are his jab and rear kick. Plus, he is willing to trade on the inside. This results in landing some big shots as well as eating some. Overall, his striking is not elite, but it is good for a primary grappler.

The UFC Paris co-main event previews as a good fight. The fight will be decided by Allen’s ability to get his grappling going and Imavov’s reaction to the grappling. Imavov can grapple well, but he could have cardio issues against a heavy wrestling pace. That said, I expect Imavov to consistently land massive shots while the fight is standing. In turn, I prefer to pick him to win the fight. I will take Imavov by round two knockout .

    Garrett: Allen via decision

    Jerry: Allen via submission

    Anthony: Imavov via decision

No. 11 Renato Moicano vs. No. 12 Benoit Saint-Denis- Lightweight Bout

James: The UFC Paris main event features a lightweight bout between Renot Moicano and Benoit Saint-Denis. The matchup pits two highly respected lightweights against one another. The winner of the bout will be putting themselves in position for a top-ten matchup. Moicano is riding a three-fight win streak and holds a 6-1 lightweight record. Saint-Denis is coming off a loss against Dustin Poirier. The defeat snapped a five-fight win streak and was his first loss in the lightweight division.

Moicano is a serious threat as a grappler and BJJ practitioner. The strengths in his skills are his clinch takedown and ability to take the back. Once he gets the back, he is great at finishing rear-naked chokes. On the feet, he is there to be hit. In many fights, he has been hurt with big shots. That said, he has powerful straight shots and deals out damage.

Saint-Denis is at an interesting point in his career. Before his loss to Poirier, he used his insane durability and ridiculous cardio to set a physically imposing pace. The question is whether that is still his game plan. If it is, is his durability still good enough to avoid getting hurt? Regardless, he has serious skills. On the feet, he has powerful kicks that he throws to the body and head. Additionally, he will throw flurries of hooks. Saint-Denis uses these attacks to deal out a ton of damage. In the grappling, he is underrated. This starts with his takedowns and extends to his ability to deal damage from the top position.

The UFC Paris main event previews to be an outstanding fight. Moicano and Saint-Denis are two fighters who never shy away from a scrap. Ultimately, I have to side with Saint-Denis. I expect his defensive grappling to be good enough to prevent Moicano from landing a submission. If that holds, I expect Saint-Denis to be the far more dangerous striker. I will take Saint-Denis by second-round knockout .

    Garrett: Saint-Denis via KO/TKO

    Jerry: Saint-Denis via KO/TKO

    Anthony: Saint-Denis via KO/TKO
