2024 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 6

The fantasy football waiver wire is slightly weaker heading into Week 6 of the 2024 NFL Season. That is partially because a lot of the best waiver wire options for this week have been discussed in previous waiver wire posts. You can find those players below. Still, several strong fantasy football waiver wire options have not been discussed.

    Week 2 : Bucky Irving

    Week 3 : Braelon Allen , Jauan Jennings , Jalen Tolbert ,

    Week 4 : Andrei Iosivas , Rico Dowdle ,

Week 5 : Dontayvion Wicks , Tucker Kraft , Kareem Hunt , Josh Downs

    Tank Bigsby – 9.5%

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby is the first fantasy football waiver wire target for Week 6. Bigsby was previously a waiver wire target in Week 2 , but he must be discussed again. The situation is slightly different and he is still on the waiver wire in too many leagues.

In Week 5, Bigsby logged 13 carries for 101 yards and two touchdowns. Plus, he added a 28-yard catch. Meanwhile, Travis Etienne had six carries for 17 yards and six catches for 43 yards. That usage makes this a split backfield.

Bigsby has a clear path to being an efficient running back. This begins with his skills on the ground. Bigsby is the type of player who runs aggressively and gets the most out of his carries. Furthermore, he should be the running back that gets the goalline touches. That is a positive for any running back.

As long as Bigsby gets more than ten touches a game, he must be rostered. That makes him one of the best fantasy football waiver wire targets in Week 6.

    Ty Chandler – 34.9%

Minnesota Vikings running back Ty Chandler is another strong fantasy football target for Week 6. Aaron Jones , the team’s starting running back, suffered a hip injury in Week 5. That gives Chandler a chance to become fantasy-relevant.

In Jones’ absence, Chandler finished with 14 carries, 30 rushing yards, two catches, and nine receiving yards. It was not the most productive outing, but it’s a good amount of opportunities in a quality offense.

If Chandler is elevated into a starting role, he needs to be rostered. That is not a groundbreaking concept. A few strong weeks from Chandler could be massive during the bye weeks.

A lot of Chandler’s value depends on the amount of time that Jones misses. In this situation, Jones’ injury history increases Chandler’s fantasy upside. At 29-years-old, Jones has played a lot of football. Plus, he has missed a lot of games over the last two years. This hip injury does not feel serious, but it does not raise optimism considering his past.

At a minimum, Chandler is worth a stash now that Jones is dinged up for the first time this season. If Jones’ hip injury sidelines him, Chandler is even more valuable. In either scenario, Chandler is a strong fantasy football waiver-wire target heading into Week 6.

    Jaylen Wright – 8.0%

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright is another waiver wire target because of an injury. De’Von Achane suffered a concussion in Week 5 against the Patriots. That allowed Wright to get some run. The rookie finished 13 carries for 86 yards while Achane was out.

I do not think Wright provides as much long-term value as other running backs. The Dolphins offense is in shambles. Plus, Raheem Mostert is likely going to log more touches than Wright. Still, Achane will likely be out for at least a game. That gives Wright a chance to produce.

Wright is more of a streamer option than a long-term league winner. That is still valuable. At this point of the season, fantasy football managers are dealing with injuries are bye weeks.

Wright is a safer fantasy football waiver wire target for managers looking to find a streaming running back for Week 6. After that, he can be kept in a handcuff or dropped for a future waiver wire target.

    Tyrone Tracy Jr.- 18.4%

The Week 6 waiver wire is filled with running backs. New York Giants back Tyrone Tracy Jr. is the next player to target.

Tracy exploded in Week 5. The rookie finished with 18 carries for 129 yards. This performance came with Devin Singletary sidelined with a groin injury .

Tracy is the riskiest running back addition on the list. This is for a variety of reasons. Singletary is not dealing with a serious injury. It is hard to imagine he misses much more time. Plus, it is not smart to depend on a Giants running back.

Despite the risk with Tracy, he is worth a stab. After an impressive Week 5, he could eat into the Giants lead-back role. I would not break the bank to pick him up from the fantasy football waiver wire, but he has value in the right situation.

2024 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 5

    Allen Lazard -38.1%

The final fantasy football waiver wire target heading into Week 6 is New York Jets wide receiver Allen Lazard. It is wild that Lazard is a waiver wire target in 2024, but apparently, his connection with Aaron Rodgers lasts the test of time.

Lazard has had a solid mix of opportunity and production in 2024. In five games, he has 34 targets for 20 receptions, 240 yards, and four touchdowns. It is not sensational, but it is consistent production.

As long as Rodgers is going to feed Lazard, he is worth a roster spot. In any week he scores a touchdown, you are getting a strong performance.

I was hesitant to add Lazard; however, we have a five-game sample size that shows Rodgers is going to feed him. That is enough to make him a strong fantasy football waiver wire target.
