Andrew Thomas Undergoes Season-Ending Foot Surgery

“You can’t replace an Andrew Thomas.”

Those are Brian Daboll’s words, not mine and he’s right…

All-Pro left tackles just don’t grow on trees and the Giants luckily have one. It’s one that idiot Joe Schoen inherited but that’s a story for another day. Now New York will have to operate the rest of the 2024-25 NFL Season without him. The former Georgia product will undergo season-ending foot surgery.

Daboll announced that Thomas – the Giants’ five-year left tackle, three-time captain, and 2022 second-team All-Pro – will miss the remainder of the 2024 season because of a Lisfranc injury he suffered Sunday night. He was hurt in the fourth quarter of the team’s 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Though he finished the game, Thomas was clearly in pain. He underwent surgery this morning and was placed on injured reserve this afternoon, leaving the Giants a roster spot to fill.

The good news is the Giants drafted zero offensive linemen during the 2024 NFL Draft so they are properly prepared to potentially replace Thomas!

Hopefully, you can sense the sarcasm there…

In all seriousness, New York will now call upon former third round pick Joshua Ezeudu. The Giants selected the former North Carolina product back in 2022, but hasn’t made much of an impact since joining the team. All eyes will be on him the rest of the way to see what kind of job he can do filling in for Thomas.
