    Albezargan graduates University of Georgia

    Allen Emad Albezargan, of Port Charlotte, was among more than 8,000 members of the University of Georgia’s Class of 2024 celebrated during commencement.

    Albezargan earned a bachelor of arts degree in international affairs.

    Boutchia graduates Bob Jones University, made dean’s list selection

    Julianne Boutchia, of Port Charlotte, graduated from Bob Jones University on May 3.

    Boutchia graduated with a bachelor’s of science in business administration.

    She was recently named to the dean’s list of Bob Jones University.

    The dean’s list recognizes students who earn a 3-3.74 grade point average during a semester.

    Bob Jones University is in Greenville, South Carolina.

    Hu, Jonseck, McKeon graduate from University of the Cumberlands

    Three area students have graduated from University of the Cumberlands.

    Howie Hu and Amber Jonseck, both of Port Charlotte, and Margaret McKeon of Englewood, were honored in a recent commencement.

    University of the Cumberlands is in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

    Swann finishes senior thesis at WPI

    Aaron Swann, of Venice, recently finished his senior thesis — required for Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduated.

    Swann is a senior majoring in civil engineering.

    His project was about the redesign of East Haddam Downtown Roadway, it noted.

    “It’s inspiring to see the creativity and skills that our students bring to these projects, as well as the professionalism with which they present their research,” said Arne Gericke, with WPI. “Their experience managing a major project like this-including identifying a problem and researching all of the implications and possible solutions while also managing team dynamics over an extended period of several months-sets them up well for success not only in their first jobs after graduation but throughout their careers.”

    WPI is in Worcester, Massachusetts.

    Williams, Visner, Zarkiewicz named to Belmont dean’s list

    Zoe Williams, of Port Charlotte; Katharine Visner, of Venice, and Riley Zarkiewicz, of Venice, were recently to Belmont University’s spring 2024 Dean’s List, according to a news release.

    “Earning a place on the Dean’s List is a testament to the unwavering diligence, tenacity and commitment to scholarly distinction exhibited by Belmont’s promising students,” Belmont University Provost David Gregory stated.

    To be eligible, students must have a minimum course load of 12 hours and a grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C, the news release stated.

    Brown, Chapman, Mihalakis and Mota named to SNHU dean’s list

    Southern New Hampshire University recently announced its winter 2024 dean’s list.

    Among those lauded for their accomplishments were Anthony Mota, Kevin Brown, Devan Chapman and Mackenzie Mihalakis, all of Port Charlotte.

    To earn the dean’s list, students must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 to 3.699 for the reporting term.

    Judson named to Piedmont University dean’s list

    Sierra Judson, of Venice, was recently named to the Piedmont University dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester.

    To qualify, a student must earned a GPA of 3.50-3.99.

    Piedmont University has campuses in Demorest, Georgia and Athens, Georgia.

    Klein attends, presents at academic symposium

    Katie Klein, of Port Charlotte, recently took part in an annual academic symposium at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland.

    She is a senior, majoring in psychology and kinesiology.

    “Klein presented during Kinesiology Student Presentations and Giving Psychology Away Session 1,” according to a news release. “McDaniel College’s Academic Symposium showcased the original research, scholarship, and creative achievements of McDaniel students, faculty and staff.”
