PORT CHARLOTTE — Beyonce Landa, a student at Port Charlotte High School, is the winner of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition.

“Congratulations to Beyonce for her outstanding achievement in winning this year’s Congressional Art Competition,” U.S. Rep. Greg Steube stated in a news release.

Steube announced Landa’s win this week.

She was a junior this school year.

“Her piece, ‘Delicate Eulogy,’ is a testament to her talent and creativity. I am excited to see her artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol,” Steube said.

The 2024 competition drew submissions from students across Steube’s 17th Congressional district.

Thanh Nguyen, a Port Charlotte High senior, secured second place with his piece, “Isolation.” Sarasota High senior, Shane Alba, claimed third place with “Blue Heron Hunting for Dinner.”

The Congressional Art Competition, organized by the Congressional Institute, celebrates and encourages artistic talent among high school students nationwide. Since its inception in 1982, the competition has provided a platform for more than 650,000 students to showcase their creativity and passion for the arts.

Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The first-place winner is given the opportunity to display their artwork at the U.S. Capitol for one year.
