VENICE — Comedian Mickey Bell, who performs over 150 shows a year and was named Comedian of the Year by Inspirational Country Music Awards, will bring his act to First Baptist Church of Venice on Oct. 20.

“Mickey produces a clean, high-tempo comedy act that is perfect for the entire family,” a press release stated.

Bell tours with Jason Crabb, Chonda Pierce, Mark Lowry, David Phelps, Unspoken and many more acts.

Bell recently released his new comedy album, Live from the Paramount, on April 1. Known for using his platform to advocate for mental health awareness in hopes of helping others find laughter through their pain, Bell is donating a portion of the proceeds from the show to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

His passion for making people laugh stems from his troubled past that he shares openly in his shows, according to the press release.

“From being adopted at birth to battling a severe bout with depression, Mickey knows how to speak to any audience about how to bounce back in life,” the release stated. “After a moral fall while serving as a pastor, Mickey found himself fired and homeless within 10 minutes. His story of recovery and finding life again will stir the emotions of anyone who has the opportunity to listen.”

For the Oct. 20 event, doors open at 5 p.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at tinyurl.com/mr3v8c7a
