VENICE — Sarasota and Charlotte County libraries remained closed Friday along with most government facilities.

No reopening date had been announced for either system as of Friday afternoon.

However, libraries in both systems offer free public Wi-Fi that may be accessible from outside the building, no password required, as long as the power is on inside.

The Wi-Fi was active Friday at the William H. Jervey Venice Public Library on the island.

When the libraries reopen, they also can provide access to computers for those who don't have one, or who might not yet have had their power restored.

According to its website, the DeSoto County library was open Friday.
