Ventura County Animal Services has five finalists for a new director following the resignation of former director Jackie Rose, who stepped down from that role May 24. VCAS commissioners explained during their May 16 meeting that Human Resources narrowed down a pool of 100 applicants to five candidates. They were interviewed by a 10-person panel in May.
New Habit Burger Grill attracts crowd
An overflow of cars carrying hungry patrons gather at the new Habit Burger Grill at 11560 N. Ventura Ave., Mira Monte, on Tuesday, July 16. Pre-opening VIP events were held on July 13, 15 and 16, with the first 200 guests treated to a free Charburger, fries and drink. The grand opening was Wednesday, July 17, which brought more people queued outside the new doors. The Mira Monte location is the 11th Habit Burger Grill in Ventura County and the first drive-thru. The Habit Burger Grill restaurant and drive-thru is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
