Mountain bikers come together for a cause
Members of the North Allegheny Mountain Bike Association, The Two Mile Run Mountain Biking group and 4 Season Cycle gather on Saturday morning for two short races at Two Mile Run County Park. They quickly changed the day’s races into a fundraiser to help benefit medical expenses for Bob Hartzell, who was thrown from his mountain bike, breaking three vertebrae in his neck on Tuesday, July 9. He was later flown from the park by emergency helicopter with the help of Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department’s rescue efforts. Hartzell’s daughter, Lana Wilson, and granddaughter Layla, 15, of Oil City attended the event, expressing overwhelming thanks for the mountain biking community rallying to help their family.
