MONTGOMERY POST — A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m. Sunday, April 28, has claimed the life of a Verbena man. Phillip L. Williams, 41, was fatally injured when the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas he was driving struck the rear-end of the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Kayla T. Montgomery, 35, of Jemison. After the initial collision, the Volkswagen partially left the roadway and overturned. Williams was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on U.S. 31 near the 208 mile marker, approximately three miles south of Verbena, in Chilton County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
