East-Central Illinois Prepares for Gusty Winds and Isolated Storms
Champaign, IL – Gusty northwest winds will continue this morning in east-central Illinois, with gusts reaching 45 to 50 mph around Danville and Paris. A Wind Advisory is in effect for Vermilion and Edgar Counties, including Danville and Paris. These strong winds are expected to toss loose lightweight objects, damage tree limbs, and potentially cause a few power outages.

County Board Vote Expected on Advisory Referendum
The Vermilion County Board is expected to vote Tuesday (July 9, 2024) on whether to place an advisory referendum on the November ballot. It would ask voters whether the Vermilion County Board should correspond with Boards of other counties in Illinois – except Cook County – about the possibility of separating from Cook County to form a new state, and seek admission to the Union as such, subject to the approval of the people.
