During my recent visit to Matterhorn, the restaurant's scenic views and cozy ambiance, complete with a charming fireplace, set the stage for a delightful dining experience. The menu offered a variety of dishes, and I was eager to try them out. The lobster roll stood out with its focus on the fresh Maine lobster, a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality ingredients. However, not all dishes hit the mark. The ny strip was overcooked, and the grilled chicken sandwich was on the drier side, leaving something to be desired.
The Matterhorn seems to have a knack for creating a good atmosphere, as I noticed the place was buzzing with energy on a band day, and the service was prompt despite the crowd. The truffle fries and poke bowl were the highlights of my meal, showcasing the kitchen's potential. Yet, some aspects did fall short of expectations. The pizza, while well-cooked in a wood-fired oven, arrived a bit cool, and the chicken wings, although flavorful, were tougher than I'd prefer.
Despite these mixed experiences, the Matterhorn has its charms. The stunning Riverview and the warmth of the fireplace create a welcoming environment that almost makes you overlook the longer wait times and the occasional dish that doesn't quite hit the mark. It's a place that I find okay for a casual meal, especially if you're not in a rush and can appreciate the setting. Just be prepared for a few quirks in service and dish execution.
