More than 3 inches of rain fell in much of central and northern Vermont late Wednesday and early Thursday as the last gasps of Tropical Storm Beryl moved through the state. Subsequent flooding ravaged public infrastructure, led to more than 100 rescues and was suspected to have killed at least one person.

In some parts of the state, rain totals were far higher, according to unofficial observations collected by National Weather Service partners, with reports of 6 inches or more in half a dozen towns.

In Caledonia County, Walden appears to have collected the most rainfall — 7.25 inches — with South Walden not far behind, at 7.1 inches. Nearby St. Johnsbury saw 6.4 inches of rain.

Across the state, in Chittenden County, observers tracked 6.91 and 6.76 inches of rain in two parts of Hinesburg. Just south, in Addison County, Monkton picked up 6.41 inches.

And in Washington County, Moretown saw 6 inches of rain.
