VTDigger has launched its 2024 Election Guide ahead of a primary election that doesn’t feature a ton of statewide competition but still includes key races for each of Vermont’s political parties.

Only the office of lieutenant governor has drawn primary challenges on both sides of the aisle. But there are lively races for each party’s nominations to the state Senate, as current and former House members and new faces seek to fill seats that in several instances were held by an incumbent for 20 years or more.

In fact, in both chambers, one-fifth of incumbents will not be vying to return. The changeover puts the Democrats’ supermajority at risk, particularly in the Senate.

Vermont’s primary election takes place Aug. 13, and the general election is Nov. 5.

VTDigger’s 2024 Primary Election Guide includes:

While our entire organization contributes to our election coverage, we would like to highlight the specific work of product design director Taylor Haynes, data reporter Erin Petenko, senior editors Natalie Williams and Kristen Fountain, director of membership and engagement Libbie Sparadeo, and editor-in-chief Paul Heintz for their work on this special project.

VTDigger will be updating the guide with additional features as the election draws closer. Sign up for the Daily Digger email newsletter for the latest updates.
