New CA law mandates clothing manufacturers recycle old clothes or face up to $50,000 per day fine
CALIFORNIA – Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law, September 28, Senate Bill 707 – the responsible textile recovery act. The first in the nation law mandates that producers of clothing, shoes, handbags, backpacks and other textiles manage the collection and recycling of them.
California Earthquake Authority raising rates by 6.8%
SAN DIEGO — California’s largest earthquake insurance carrier, California Earthquake Authority, will be raising its rates at the beginning of next year by 6.8% on average. “Some people are going to get a decrease, and some people are going to get potentially 12 percent, who knows? It just depends. That's what the overall state average is,” said insurance broker and independent agency owner, Karl Susman.
