Vernonia will be front and center from Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 4, during the Vernonia Friendship Jamboree and Logging Show.
The Friday program includes a solo acoustic by Jeff Lucas from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Spencer Park, followed by local singer Sara McMahon and STEEN, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Anderson Park, enjoy Buck N’Bull and Mutton Bustin’. For the uninitiated, Buck N’ Bull is a mechanical bull that you’ll see outside the horse arena. Inside the arena, Mutton Bustin’ is where youngsters can ride sheep.
Saturday activities include a Friendship Jamboree & Logging Show Parade at 11 a.m.; the Log Jam Car Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Spencer Park; and the Friendship Jamboree Motorcycle Show at noon in Spencer Park.
The Decades Band performs at Spencer Park from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Later in the day, American Legion Post 119 is having their Centennial Celebration barbecue, featuring Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute band Fortunate Son. They will perform from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Legion Hall, which is open to the public.
The Kids Logging Show, with registration at $5 per family, takes place at 3 p.m. at Hawkins Park. Buck N’ Bull and mutton bustin’ takes place at 9 p.m., at Anderson Park.
On Sunday, the Jamboree kicks off with the adult logging show, beginning at 11 a.m. There’s a flat fee, $20, for registration. The Vernonia Ridge Riders Friendship Jamboree Belt Buckle Playday has a 9:30 a.m. signup, and games start at 10:30 a.m.
Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Friends of the Library is hosting a book sale at 901 Park Drive.
Jamboree hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4. Contact Angela Wayman at 971-757-0271 for more information.
