13-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Alleged Abduction Attempts On Women Near Vero

A 13-year old boy has been arrested in the attempted abductions of at least three women near Vero Beach.

The incidents happened over the past couple of weeks in the Pointe West neighborhood.

The Indian River County Sheriff's Office put out a warning that two women were nearly abducted but got away by screaming for help and fighting off the suspect. Sheriff Eric Flowers says turns out there was a third would-be victim.

"There's another woman that lives over in the townhouses that came forward and said "I saw that kid. He was not looking right. He approached me. I ran in my house and he started banging on my door."

A detective caught up with the teen after stopping the vehicle he was riding in on Wednesday.

"He's got serious issues. (His) mom sat in our room today and talked about how he's a compulsive liar, that he believes his own lies. That he's been that way since he was five years old."

One of the incidents was caught on video and clothing matching the suspect was found during a search of the boy's home.
