Clear the Shelter Returns This Weekend

The Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County and NBCUniversal Local will partner to host the tenth annual Clear the Shelter pet adoption event August 24.

Each year, Clear the Shelter partners with of animal rescues and shelters across the United States, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam to find loving homes for animals in need. Since 2015, the Clear the Shelter Day initiative has helped more than one million pets find homes.

On August 24, the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County will waive adoption fees for dogs, cats, and all other adoptable animals. Animals will be adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Adoptions include all age-appropriate vaccines, spaying or neutering a microchip, a starter bag, a cardboard carrier for cats, and a collar and leash for dogs.

The event also includes prizes, give-a-ways, and ice cold treats by Kona Ice. Proceeds will support the animals in the shelter.

The Clear the Shelter event will take at 6230 77 ^th Street, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (or until the last pet is adopted). The shelter will be closed August 23 in preparation for the event. Preview the humane society’s adoptable animals at hsvb.org .
