Summer is quickly approaching and children are finishing up school. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program better known as SNAP is introducing a new program to give an additional boost for eligible families facing increased grocery store costs due to their kids being home for the summer. This means they will have to prepare more meals for their families.

During July and August, the SUN Bucks program will provide extra money to households with children to buy groceries. Here are more details about the program.

How much will I receive for SNAP's Summer EBT?

Families with eligible school-aged children can get $120 per child to buy groceries during the summer.

How do I qualify for SNAP's Summer EBT?

Eligible Families can receive SUN Bucks in addition to other benefits like SNAP and WIC. Children can continue to receive free SUN Meals from local meal sites or with SUN Meals To-Go.

Per the USDA website, The requirements to qualify for SUN Bucks are:

    1. Your child is school-age and your household already participates in benefits like SNAP, FDPIR, or TANF
    2. Your child attends a school that offers the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, and your household income meets the requirements for free or reduced-price school meals.

Families who meet these requirements are automatically enrolled in the program. If you do not qualify, interested families can apply for SUN Bucks directly through the program's website or by contacting your child's school district.
