Centre College Women’s Basketball Team Taking Once in a Lifetime Trip to Hawaii
The timing might not be the best but the opportunity was too enticing for Centre College women’s basketball coach Wendie Austin to pass up. That’s why her Colonels will be playing two games in the Hoops in Hawaii Classic in Honolulu Dec. 21-22. The players will finish semester exams Dec. 17, fly to Hawaii Dec. 18 and be back in Kentucky Dec. 23.
Mosquitoes with West Nile virus found in 3 more Louisville zip codes, including downtown
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus have now been found in six Louisville zip codes this year. The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness said in a news release Friday that the mosquitoes were found in the 40202, 40212 and 40215 zip codes. As a result, fogging will take place this week in downtown Louisville, the Portland neighborhood and the area around Churchill Downs.
Family works to change domestic violence laws after woman is attacked
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Saturday morning, the Frankfort Applebee’s hosted a breakfast fundraiser for Faith Newsome. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Faith was riding on the back of a motorcycle when her boyfriend at the time, Brenden Cummins, crashed into her. She was thrown off the bike and then dragged underneath his car. Her pelvis was crushed, her lungs collapsed, she had multiple fractures, and her leg has since been amputated.
