After months of speculation, Ryan Smith, owner of the NBA's Utah Jazz officially brought the NHL to Salt Lake City, and it's safe to say that fans are excited. Now, they'll be even more thrilled, as it has been confirmed that Smith Entertainment Group will be getting a $900 million deal to revamp the Delta Center, with a three block sports and entertainment district to surround their home arena.
Provo parade watchers camp out before Fourth of July Grand Parade
PROVO — Thousands of people camped out Wednesday night, to get the best spot for the Grand Parade that goes right down University Avenue at 9 a.m. Thursday. The parade, which is the largest of its kind in the western United States, is expected to attract about 300,000 spectators. People were allowed to claim their spot on public property starting at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Since January, there has been much discussion about Main Street and Midland Square. Many folks have expressed their opinions on both sides of the issue. We have discussed the pros and cons of revitalizing the Square and Main Street at our City Council meetings and in town halls, listening and gaining citizens’ input on how we can revitalize our downtown. At one town hall, the question was asked: what needed to be done to revitalize downtown? Nearly everyone agreed we must do something. Suggestions included adding more vibrancy, amenities, infrastructure improvements like lighting and more greenery, more downtown events, public restrooms, marketing, parking issues, addressing vacancies, and improving façades as critical areas the city should focus on. These changes and improvements were almost identical to a 2017 survey asking people what they would like to change about Main Street.
Proposed Ogden tax increase aims to fund mental health services for first responders
Ogden City Mayor Ben Nadolski proposed a .94% property tax increase as part of his budget proposal. The hope is to use the $184,840 raised from the increase to fund mental health resources for public safety employees in the city.
