In the teaser for the episode, Safaree spoke on how the industry treated him after he split from Minaj and also how much of a “dark time” it was for him.
“When me and Nicki first broke up and she got with Meek, they were, like, the biggest in the world,” he began. “ We was all beefing and sh*t. You gotta think about — I had two of the biggest people in the world against me. Nobody wanted to be next to me. Nobody wanted to work with me or none of that sh*t. So it just made everything hard and that sh*t that was a dark time for me.”
Speaking to the negative aftermath of his relationship with the Pink Friday 2 star , he went on, “I’m not even gonna sugarcoat sh*t.”
“I was with Nicki, we broke up,” he continued. “Her fans and certain people they just wanted it to be like, ‘Okay, they not together no more. F**k him, let it be nothing. Let him disintegrate, let him disappear, whatever.’”
“But nine, 10 years later — 10, 15 TV shows later, lot of music out later, doors up later — I’m still here. Some people don’t like that,” he said. “They’re like, ‘Damn, why are ni**as still paying attention to this ni**a?’”
Back in 2016, Safaree spoke with Rap-Up where he claimed that the Philadelphia rapper was part of the reason he and Minaj called it quits. “He definitely was a big part as to why me and Nicki broke up,” he said.
In the same year, Meek and Safaree also had it out on X (formerly Twitter) with a few subs.
“You ever see a pic of some1 you use to deal with and wanna send that ‘wyd bighead’ text i hate yall #stuntgang,” Safaree kicked it off with a tweet seemingly about Minaj.
Moments after, Meek seemingly taunted Safaree on Snapchat by posting a picture of himself with a “Hey bighead” caption and a crying emoji. In response, the Love & Hip-Hop star wrote at the time, “i was jus kidding, but its funny to see how much control i have over ppl i dont know.. i do this for yall! thx 4 the love #stuntgang.”
Safaree also expressed that Nas once made him upset when he kissed Minaj in her “ Right By My Side ” music video.
“You wanna know what’s so crazy? I didn’t know it happened until the video came out,” he admitted during an appearance on the Keep It a Stack Podcast in.
“Ni**a, I was hurt. When that sh*t happened, I was hurt,” he went on. “I was there the whole day so I was like, ‘Damn. Did that happen when I left to go? I must’ve left for like an hour, two hours and I think that’s when that scene happened, yo.”
