Chris Brown’s mounting legal troubles just got a bit worse, as a security guard has hit the singer with a $15 million lawsuit stemming from an alleged backstage brawl during a recent tour stop.
According to documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop , the plaintiff, Frederick R. Overpeck, filed a suit against Brown on Wednesday (July 25). The 58-year-old claims to have been “severely injured” while attempting to break up a fight in which the hitmaker’s entourage assaulted a group of men, at his behest.
Overpeck, who was working as security at Brown’s Ft. Worth stop on his 11:11 Tour at the Dickies Arena this past Saturday (July 20), was assigned to work the backstage meet-and-greet sessions that have become customary at the Virginia native’s concerts.
The guard says that Brown ordered members of his and rapper Yella Beezy’s entourages to “f**k up” a group of concertgoers accused of having prior tensions with the singer. He says he attempted to intervene, only to be assaulted by Brown’s cohorts. Overpeck says he was repeatedly punched and kicked by the assailants, resulting in him suffering a cracked vertebra in his neck and a severely injured hip.
The plaintiff, a father working two jobs, described the scene as resembling a “prison yard beat down,” with one 300-pound man physically imposing his will on one of the other four male victims, who have also taken legal action against Brown, as well as Yella Beezy, a man known as Sinko Ceej, and Live Nation.
On Monday (July 22), a $50 million lawsuit was filed against Brown by Charles Bush, Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, and Da Marcus Powell, all of whom allege that the singer ordered them to be physically assaulted, resulting in the men suffering severe injuries and being hospitalized.
Brown and his representatives have yet to comment on the allegations against him.
