Sha’Carri Richardson Advances Team USA To Finals With Impressive 4x100M Relay Finish

Sha’Carri Richardson — one of the best runners of all time — is sprinting for gold after already taking home a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Ahead of concluding the Paris games on Aug. 11, Richardson helped Team USA advance to the finals in the women’s 4×100 meter relay race. Richardson was assisted by USA’s Melissa Jefferson (11.34s), Twanisha Terry (10:02s) and Gabby Thomas (10:59s), who ran the first three legs ahead of her winning sprint.

Once Thomas handed the baton to Richardson, she took off like a missile passing Germany’s Rebekka Haase in a total time of 41.94 seconds.

The 24-year-old’s feat follows her taking second place to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred in the Women’s 100-meter on Aug. 3. Richardson came in second place with a time of 10.87 — .15 seconds behind Alfred who finished in 10.72 seconds.

Hours before the latter, a video surfaced on social media of Richardson and Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce being denied entry to the track and field facility for warmup.

The two track stars were told to use a separate entrance — which reportedly took an hour to get to. Although the girls had entered the same gate only 24 hours before, an overnight rule was enforced that wouldn’t allow them to enter that particular gate with their own personal drivers.

Richardson being held up at the gate reportedly forced her to enter elsewhere, which could have caused her to exert extra energy ahead of the 100-meter.

Richardson and Team USA will go for the gold in the 4×100 meter final relay on Friday (Aug. 11) at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
